Franklin, North Carolina July 1 – August 9, 2020
After hiking, going to breweries is our next favorite past time, and I do not even drink beer. I have had more beer in the last month then I have had in the last five years. Steve likes to log in to “Untapped” to register and rank the beer. Most breweries have outdoor seating and fortunately, the weather was perfect in the mountains in July.
Lazy Hiker Brewery in Franklin is small, but the beer is good. The patio out front had enough seating and if you were hungry , a food truck was located right outside. We went to this brewery a couple of times. Thursday was open mic night, so you could watch the local talent. The Lazy Hiker also had a location in Silva. Another brewery in Franklin that we enjoyed was Currahee Brewery. The outdoor patio was tiered and overlooked the Little Tennessee River. The patio was awesome and cool in the evening. We loved this brewery and went to Currahee several times during our stay including the night before we left Franklin.

In Bryson City we went to Nantahala Brewery. The beer was good, but the outside patio was a little rustic (a/k/a dumpy). I liked Mountain Layer Brewery in Bryson City. It was located next to the river and had a deck on the second floor that overlooked the downtown. The beer was good and my personal favorite.

We also enjoyed the beer at Innovations Brewery in Dillsboro which is next to Silva and north of Franklin. The outdoor area was passable, but the beer was good. The brewery did not serve food, but a restaurant next door allowed you to pick up food and eat while drinking beer. The food was upscale pub food and delicious.
