Hollywood/Pembroke Pines, Florida January 14 – January 24, 2022
Okeechobee, Florida January 24 – February 28, 2022
We left Panama City to head to Tampa for our “gold service” on the camper at Lazy Days RV (where we purchased our camper). Instead of boarding Ziva at Kitty City, like we did last year, we stayed in a pet friendly extended stay motel near Lazy Days. The stay was fine, but Lazy Days was unable to complete all of our service. We will have to schedule additional service. What a pain!
On to South Florida – to visit Steve’s family. The park in Pembroke Pines was a surprise given that it is located in the middle of “civilization”. CB Smith Park was great. The sites were pretty, and the park was quiet. I really liked the walking trail.
We visited Steve’s parents (Herb and Myra) and also Steve’s brother and his wife (Alan and Dawn). We were in town for about 10 days but the time flew. Before you knew it we were off to Okeechobee. We returned once for a cookout to see Bill and Jill and the family. Bill and Jill are friends/former neighbors of Steve’s parents that they met when Steve was only 10 or so. Steve and I visited Bill and Jill when we traveled through Wisconsin ( see – “Pontoon State of Mind”).

We spent several wonderful evenings with Al and Dawn and even helped Al try out his new drink smoker. We had old fashions which were great.

In Okeechobee we stayed at the Silver Palms Resort. This was our first actual resort. The place was awesome. It had a beautiful pool, bar, restaurant, pickleball courts and much more. Steve and I learned how to play pickleball while here and loved it. Steve was really good – having played paddle ball before – and I was horrible – having never played any paddle sport before. But we had fun. I also loved the water aerobics class which I attended 3 days a week.

We went to the pool most days because the weather was sunny and beautiful. At the end of our stay the temperatures were in the low 80s. We went to the Valentines Day dinner, and the Trivia contest while at the resort. Our team Brian, Betty, Steve and I won first place – Yea! Mostly because of Brian, Betty, and Steve.

We will miss the resort and our new friends, Brian, Betty, Jay and Sue. I know we will see you again.
Up next Orlando and my family.
