Auburn November 1, 2021 – December 1, 2021
We spent a month in Auburn in March and decided to come back in November to see friends, and watch football and basketball.
One of the many things I love about Auburn, is that there are almost no (there are a few) Alabama Fans (those suckers are sneaky and show up when they are not wanted), and the town really embraces the University.
Another highlight is the state park. We have camped for years with our friends at Chewacla State Park for football and we did the same this year. The park is beautiful with lots of hiking paths, streams, a large lake and a waterfall.
We took a trip over to Tuskegee to see the Tuskegee Airman Museum. The museum commemorates the contributions of African American Airman (and other support people) who worked at the base during World War II. The museum is housed in a couple of hangers next to the old airstrip and it was super informative. I would recommend a trip if you have never been.
Our friends Angel and Anita spent most weekends in Auburn and we hung out with them for two Auburn games (yes – that included the Auburn/Alabama game), a Women’s basketball game, the Draft House, and of course Thanksgiving. SEC Nation and the Paul Finebaum show were in town for the Iron Bowl and we were able to act like SEC groupies and see the show.
Unfortunately, I do not believe that we will be able to go back to Auburn for football in 2022 (that may be a good thing) but I am sure we will pass through Auburn as often as we can.
Now we are headed to Panama City Beach.
