“Time for a Cool Change”

Auburn, Alabama June 27 – July 1, 2020

After a whirl wind of preparation, we left Panama City Beach on Saturday, June 27, 2020. The last week was full of selling, giving away and otherwise disposing of everything we own. I know what you are thinking – How in the world can you get rid of everything you own? As crazy as it sounds, it was easier than I thought. I sold almost all of my furniture to a second hand store. I sold a few items of furniture and some more valuable items. I gave almost everything else away. We parked the RV at Panama City Beach RV for a week and moved. We enjoyed a couple of “going away happy hours” with Jim, Noreen, Ken, Christine, Brad, Jamie, Eric, and Chuck. We will miss you guys. Thanks for seeing us off!

Our first stop was Franklin, North Carolina, but on the way we stopped in Auburn, Alabama at our favorite park, Chewacla State Park. We have been staying at this park for football season for years. We love the park and enjoy the walking trails, creeks, the lake, and the waterfall. Of course the fact that the park is in Auburn (the most wonderful city in the entire world) does not hurt. We met our tailgating friends Angel and Anita to celebrate Steve’s birthday on the 30th and Anita’s birthday on the 28th. We had a blast!

On Tuesday before we left, we met Joan and her daughters at a new brewery in Opelika, Resting Pulse Brewery. Steve, the beer connoisseur, did not like the beer. The brewery is by the train tracks and has a large outdoor area with a stage for live music. I liked the atmosphere.

We left Auburn and our comfort zone behind on the first of July and headed to North Carolina. We arrived at Great Outdoors RV Resort in the afternoon and made it our home for the next 39 days. ” Now that my life is so prearranged, it is time for a cool change”. Words to live by and now the adventure begins!
