Scarborough Maine (just south of Portland) June 20 – June 27, 2022
This is our third visit to Portland, and I absolutely love this town. I love the old warehouses with restaurants and shops, the cobblestone streets, the beautiful waterfront, the breweries, I just love everything.
We had dinner at Street and Company in the heart of Portland for Steve’s Birthday. We did not have the best table in the house, but the meal was good. We originally ate at the restaurant before we were married on our very first vacation together through New England – yes – this restaurant has been here a very long time. We also revisited our favorite breakfast restaurant – “Hot Suppa”. Everything was delicious.
Maine has lots of breweries. We visited several in Portland – Shipyard Brewery Company, Austin Street Brewery, Rising Tide Brewery, Gritty McDuff’s Brewing Company and of course the famous Allagash Brewing Company.
Of course we took a day trip to Freeport and visited L.L. Bean.
We also traveled for the day to the Kennebunks (Kennebunk and Kennebunkport), I would like to say I loved this town, but at this point I have seen so many port towns that I could not tell the difference. It was nice, but not awesome. We enjoyed a drink at Federal Jacks Brew Pub which had great views of the main shopping area
We stayed at a nice park in Scarborough which was close to a bike trail and we had great sunsets.
The park was close to Saco and Biddeford. These two cities are on opposite sides of the Saco river and have lots of old buildings left over from the New England textile Industry. Most of the buildings have been converted to offices, shops and restaurants. We went to a couple of breweries here – Of Course.
I loved visiting this area again. Our next stop is Booth Bay Harbor.
