“Shelter from the Storm”

Tampa, Florida November 8 – November 16, 2020

We purchased our camper (Grand Design Solitude 310GK) at the Tampa RV Show from Lazy Days RV (based in Tampa) in 2019 in anticipation of traveling full time. By the time we went on the road full time, we had camped in it several times and had warranty work done twice. Now we needed the two year “gold service”. I think they name it “gold service” so they can charge more. We stayed at the RV park attached to the service center. The park was not that nice, but it was convenient.

While in Tampa we went to Tampa Brewing Company several times. We had been here before when we visited Tampa and remembered the great outdoor bar. The food was pretty good. On one occasion, we had a nice lunch with Steve’s nieces, Becca and Leah.

Ziva could not stay in the camper during the service, so she spent four days at Kitty City (an all cat day and night care center). She did fine, but was happy to get home at the end of the service. We made reservations for seven days to make sure that we were able to get all of the service accomplished. Lazy Days was pretty efficient, so we did not need to stay that long. Nothing major was wrong, so we were not charged additional service above and beyond the gold service. What a relief!

We left Hollywood early because of tropical storm Eta. But Eta proved very evasive and did not hit South Florida. Instead Eta hit north of Tampa, while we were stuck in Tampa for service. We stayed in the camper, but brought the slides in. Ziva was safely tucked away at Kitty City. Since Eta went north, we did not experience very high winds. Yea!
