Rehoboth Beach, Delaware – May 6 – May 10, 2022
Cape May, New Jersey – May 10 – May 17, 2022
We made a short stop in Delaware for two reasons. Steve wanted to visit the Dog Fish Head Brewery (I call this the mother ship). It is one of the first and most successful microbreweries in the United States. It started in Delaware and now sells beer in 31 states. The second reason is so we can get a sticker (more on this later.)
Conveniently enough the brewery was having a food and beer tasting festival that coincided with our stay. So of course we went. The festival was at the brewery in Milton, Delaware. Beer was brewed just for the event and had all kinds of weird flavor combinations. I thought the beer was just OK, but the food was awesome. Steve was able to purchase a couple of his favorites.
We also walked on the boardwalk at Rehoboth Beach.
So – the sticker. For each state in which we camp, we add a sticker to our map. This is an RV thing so it is OK if you have never heard of this tradition. So here is a picture of our current map.
Our next stop was Cape May, New Jersey, which is right across the Delaware Bay and accessible by a ferry. Yes, we rode the ferry in the camper. Since I get motion sickness relatively easily, I was a little nauseous. Steve, Ziva and the camper were fine.
Cape May is a quaint seaside town and its claim to fame are the numerous grand Victorian Homes. We took a trolley tour and strolled through town to take a look. We also toured the Physick House. Build in 1879 by Emlen Physick, a doctor, (not a great name for a doctor) who moved to Cape May and never practiced (because he was already rich) but became an integral part of Cape May society.
Cape May also has a great pedestrian area call the mall with shops and restaurants. We found a cute cheese store and a great fish market while in Cape May. We stumbled upon a brewery called the Mud Hen in Wildwood and the beer was pretty good.
My Mother’s family is from this area and growing up we made several trips to visit family. On one memorable visit we strolled the boardwalk at Wildwood. Steve and I did the same thing. I bought fudge (which my mother was convinced was the best in the world). I admit the fudge was delicious. Wildwood is pretty touristy but the season had not started yet, so we had the boardwalk all to ourselves. During the summer the place is probably a mad house.
Next stop is New York!

How did you miss Indiana? Bill says he would like to miss Indiana. If you’re coming back from this trip and want to hit Indiana you’ll have to go through Ohio you can always stop at Peter‘s in Canton… They have a wonderful guestroom and you would really enjoy the kids and their puppy Maple!!!!
Love you guys
We are going to hit Indiana in November on our way back (upgrades on the camper in Erkhart). We are breezing through Ohio but will stop in Cleveland for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Unfortunately we will miss Peter in Canton. We talk often about our two weeks at the cottage and your hospitality. We love you too!
Nice job getting the trailer on a ferry! That sounds like scary stuff to me. Thanks for the fun updates on your travels. Maybe get an Arizona sticker some winter!
I was pretty scared on the ferry, but Steve drove in like a champ. We are heading west March of 23, we should hit Arizona later in the year. I will let you know dates when I know them. Would love to meet up with you guys again.
How fun!
We look forward to seeing you guys! We plan to head north in May of 2023. Not sure for how long or where yet. Staying west. If doing Glacier, tetons, Yellowstone, get those reservations now!
