Franklin, North Carolina July 1 – August 9, 2020
There should be a song about North Carolina that includes three words – Brewery, Hiking and Waterfall. We saw a lot of waterfalls. There are 16 different waterfalls near Franklin and we only saw a few. On the road to Highlands we stopped at Little Falls and we saw Bridal Falls. Bridal falls is right next to the road and you can see it, but it is not worth the stop.

In Standing Indian Camping Area we hiked to Big Laural Falls and Mooney Falls. They were both beautiful and worth the drive and hike.

The falls on the Bartram Trail were nice. We hiked the portion of the trail (near Wallace branch) which is about 2 miles up hill and then 2 miles back. We hiked past two other falls, but were unable to get pictures because we were too high for a good photograph.

The last waterfall that we saw was the tallest or the longest in the eastern United States called White Water Falls. The drive was not bad, although we did drive in pretty heavy rain. Fortunately, the rain stopped and the clouds parted to allow us to take a picture of the falls. The walk was a pretty easy 1/2 mile paved path.

The hiking and waterfalls were definitely a high point of our stay in Franklin.
